Why aka Ronnie?
My name is Ron Miller, but as a kid growing up in Parkville, Maryland and as a boyfriend to my now wife of 43 years I was Ronnie. The transition to Ron has been fine, but I never really gave up the things that make me Ronnie.
Why “Ron Unplugged “ - My Blog
I have found I express myself best through writing. I like to share my opinions on what I have learned through personal experience, observation and research, consequently most of what I now think has changed over time. I expect this to continue. I anticipate subject matters on this blog to be heavy on current events and politics interspersed with philosophical musings and healthy doses of comic relief. I do however reserve the right of spontaneity - which means some of what I express may not fit into any of the above. I guess the word, "eclectic" would describe this aspect of ”Ron Unplugged.”
I don't expect everyone to agree with all of my opinions. That would be disrespectful and hypocritical of me as many of my current opinions are evolutions from seeds from the thoughts of others that have grown from a willingness to the best of my ability, to keep an open mind. In other words, I don't like dogmatic thinking as it is my observation that it leads to false certitude that results in close mindedness and the stifling of thoughtfulness. It is more important to me that I earn your respect than your agreement. But hey, I'm human and admit to a weakness to flattery, so if on occasion you wish to express agreement - I'm okay with that.
My writing and subject matters are not designed to attract a target audience. That's just not my thing. There's enough of that - that people fall prey to already. If you want to hear someone tell you what you already think, listen to your favorite cable news channel. Their product is advertising, not news and they don't sell advertising by offering non scripted information and opinions.
If I had to use one word to describe my style it would be:
- Authenticity.
You can hold me accountable for intellectual honesty. That does not mean I am always right. No one is. But I would rather be honestly wrong than intellectually dishonest. This is an unchartered journey for me as the chartered ones would be someone else's path - not mine. I think everyone's life should be an unchartered journey, so unlike traditional closings I'm not going to invite you on my journey as that would undermine what I just stated. No dear reader:
- I hope my journey in this walk of mine will serve as inspiration to you to walk your journey. A journey of yours that has never been charted before and never again shall be.
